RoadmapOne Release 3.1 is here

Following hot-on-the-heels of version 3.0 , we’re super-excited to announce RoadmapOne v3.1: bringing powerful new financial planning capabilities to help you make data-driven prioritization and budgeting decisions.

What’s New

Financial Prioritisation Frameworks

Make objective priority decisions based on financial metrics with three new prioritisation frameworks:

  • NPV (Net Present Value) - Prioritize initiatives by their total financial value over time, accounting for the time value of money
  • ROI (Return on Investment) - Compare initiatives by their return relative to investment cost across 12, 18, and 24-month horizons
  • Benefits Prioritisation - The simplest thing that can possibly work: track pure financial benefits (cost savings or revenue/net revenue/EBITDA), across 12, 18, and 24-month horizons (see the picture below)

These frameworks automatically format scores as currency values, ratios (e.g., “3.2x”), or time periods as appropriate, making financial comparisons intuitive and consistent across your roadmap.

Location-Based Cost Modeling

Plan budgets accurately across distributed teams with our new cost modeling capability:

  • Configure squad locations - Define geographic regions where your teams are based (London, India, New York, Remote, etc.)
  • Set blended daily rates - Specify developer and non-developer costs per location, accounting for regional salary differences and fully-loaded costs
  • Multi-year planning - Track how costs change across planning years as rates increase
  • Multi-currency support - View all costs in your workspace currency (USD, GBP, EUR, etc.)
  • Automatic cost calculation - The system calculates initiative costs based on squad allocations, team capacity, and location-specific rates

This feature enables you to:

  • Break down costs by Objective and/or Objective Tag. So now it’s even easier for the board to understand the relationship between the outcome and the cost.
  • Accurately budget business initiatives based on which teams are assigned
  • Make informed trade-offs between cost and capacity when planning roadmaps
  • Support financial forecasting and budget planning discussions

And don’t forget…

Export Roadmaps to PNG so they’re even easier to include in your board deck.

A fix where some nasty corporate email software (I’m looking at you Mimecast) was breaking the magic link login by consuming the login token before the user reached the page 😡

A bunch of bug fixes and performance enhancements to make the experience even smoother and more powerful
